LEARN FROM EVERY ANGLE

Fluid Mechanics’ avatar clips show each avatar from a variety of perspectives to demonstrate proper technique from all angles. See the full range above from the top, bottom, side, front, back, and perspective.

Explore the animation filters

The Motion and Hydro filters offer unique opportunities to visualize specific features of each stroke. Use the Motion filter to see how the avatar moves simply through the water. Add the Hydro filter and understand how the avatar moves the water throughout a swim.

Motion

Motion allows viewers to see a comprehensive animation of any stroke, turn, start or breakout to the exact targets. In its simplest form, the Motion filter shows what a human would look like as they swim through the water.

Hydro

The Hydro filter allows viewers to "see the water." Since water is translucent, and we cannot see how it reacts against our body, we designed this filter specifically to visualize exactly how the water is being manipulated by the swimmer to move their body forward.

meet Our avatars

Originally, FM used a simple stick figure, we call Liquid Lou, to break down strokes, starts and turns and demonstrate exactly what is happening through each phase of a moment. Today, Liquid Lou and friends have new life as an animated tool, demonstrating technically perfect and anatomically correct tutorials for coaches and swimmers worldwide.

Liquid Lou

Our original avatar, first conceived in the late 1980's. Liquid Lou's appearance represents the skeletal structure to show how a swimmer’s bones interact with each other during correct swimming technique.

muscles marinara

Muscles Marinara is designed to show muscular contractions during the structure of a stroke. Now swimmers have the ability to see exactly which muscles are being used during different motions.
